Fr Johnson Tatah Delivers soul-searching homily to Boyui Christians as they celebrate centenary.

  Christians of St Francis Xavier Mission Station Boyui, gathered at the Catholic School Field to celebrate the centenary of the evangelization of their mission station. The occasion which took place on Saturday December 3rd  2022 started with Holy Mass celebrated by Fr Johnson Tatah and concelebrated by Guylain Agbasoa.  In his homily, Fr Johnson stressed that according to the Bible, a jubilee year is a year of remission of debts and forgiveness. He then exhorted each Christian to try and forgive one person this year and let go all grudges against. Then he made reference to the Christians who started the church in Boyui and asked how many were ready to make sacrifices like them. Turning to the saint of the day he told the congregation that St Francis Xavier was a missionary priest, born in Spain, who sacrificed his life for the preaching of the gospel. Two Mill Hill Superiors In Africa React to the Just Ended Centenary Celebrations in Cameroon.

  The St Joseph’s Missionary Society in Cameroon has over the weekend celebrated 100 years of existence. The ceremony which was marked by the attendance of Friends of Mill Hill, religious and well wishers took place at the St Joseph’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Bamenda, with Archbishop Andrew Nkea as the main celebrant. The Archbishop, in his homily showered the Mill Hill Missionaries with words of thanks for all they have done in Cameroon. “We want the Mill Hill Fathers to get the message clearly and loudly, that we are very grateful to them and we shall always remain in a big debt of thanks for all that they did and are still doing for our local church,” the Bishop said.  The Society’s Representative of the Mill Hill Missionaries for Cameroon, Fr Innocent Akum, was asked how he felt about the centenary celebration and he said, ” I feel happy; a lot of energy was put into it. The Archbishop of Bamenda made this statement while presiding at the golden jubilee of St Jude's Parish Fundong on Saturday the 13 of November 2021.  In his homily, the Archbishop stated that "a jubilee is a time for the Christians to thank God, face the future with hope, count achievements, cancel debts and seek peace and reconciliation. "He lamented the state of Belo and Njinikom towns and castigated the Anglophone crisis. He went ahead to announce that Fundong will now have aa Catholic College and a health center. He then urged everybody to send their children to school as it is the only way to prepare for their future. Attack on UN convoy leaves Italian Ambassador to DRC and two others dead.

 Italy’s ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo and two other people have been killed in an attack on a United Nations convoy in the restive east of the central African country. The convoy from the World Food Programme was attacked at about 10.15am local time (0815 GMT) during an attempted kidnapping near the town of Kanyamahoro, about 10 miles north of the regional capital, Goma, a spokesperson for Virunga national park said. Ambassador Luca Attanasio and a male Italian military police officer travelling with him were killed, the Italian foreign ministry said in a statement. A driver also died in the attack, diplomatic sources and local officials said. A Mbororo man stabs an old woman to death, Nwa people react.

 The population of Mback community in Nwa, Northwest Region of Cameroon, rallied to the Nwa Subdivisional Office to decry “atrocities” of members of the Mbororo ethnic group against the local population. This was after a man, reportedly one of the Mbororos, stabbed to death an old woman in her house on the night of February 20, also wounding her daughter. The narrative goes that the man had forced himself into the house after knocking on the door for about 15 minutes to no avail.  The old woman, who was lying on the bed, sought to know what he wanted, but the furious man remained mute and stabbed the woman on the back just before her daughter’s intervention.  Sources say that the man narrowly escaped that night, but left behind a bag containing marijuana and some harmful objects, while the old woman’s daughter was injured during a scuffle with the intruder. Biden administration pledges $4billion for Covid-19 vaccines for poor countries.

 The Biden administration has pledged $4 billion to a coronavirus vaccination program for poorer countries in hopes of prying loose bigger donations from other governments. U.S. President Joe Biden used his first meeting with leaders of Group of Seven advanced economies on Friday to announce an immediate $2 billion donation to the COVAX program co-led by the World Health Organization. COVAX aims to ensure a fair supply of coronavirus vaccines around the world. The United States will provide the remaining $2 billion over the next two years as other nations fulfill and make their own pledges, the officials said. “We want to turn this into a way to translate $2 billion into several billion dollars, up to at least $15 billion,” said one of the officials, estimating the total amount needed for the global vaccination drive. Ace journalism trainer, Prof Enoh Tanjong retires.

 Professors, Communication experts, Members of Parliament and former students of Prof Enoh Tanjong on November 21st crowded the Parliamentarian Flats Hotel Buea to celebrate the life of the renowned professor as he ended his academic career at the age of 65.  He was the pioneer Head of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Buea, in 1993. He initiated the three programs offered in the Department: Bsc in Journalism, MSC in journalism and PhD in communication.  Prof. Enoh Tanjong has published dozens of research materials in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication and has lectured in several universities in Africa and around the world. “I want to be on the epitaph. This is the man who made JMC,” Prof Enoh Tanjong. He feels fulfilled after laying the foundation for journalism training in the University of Buea.  As a way to continue honouring Prof Tanjong for his huge contribution to academics and the journalism profession in Cameroon, his former mente
